Ridzwa A Fathan
B. Architecture Chicago, MSAAD New York

Ridzwa brings along extensive architectural & urban design experience from the Far-East, Mid-East and the UK. Spending most of his early years of architecture in America, Ridzwa was trained under Arthur Takeuchi at IIT Chicago, Hani Rashid at Columbia University and at Asymptote Architecture New York soon after. Formerly Design Director at T.R. Hamzah & Yeang Kuala Lumpur, a renowned ECO-architectural practice headed by Dr Ken Yeang, his notable works include the GREEN Mark Award National Library Board Building of Singapore completed in 2004, the Putrajaya Boulevard Masterplan competition proposal and the Jabal Omar & Shamiyah Masterplan competition proposals for Makkah, Saudi Arabia in 1999, among others.

As a director at  TP Bennett in London between 2006 to 2012, Ridzwa analysed the London Bridge quarter as part of the Network Rail team of consultants designing the new London Bridge Station. The big aim for him was to enhance the potential of regeneration towards London as a compact city. Currently as director at CITYLAB PROJECTS Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur, Ridzwa is determined to realise architecture for future generations via creation of meaningful public centric projects and sustainability; this through cross pollination of his vast industry experience accumulated over 20 years.

Ridzwa is fascinated by the evolution of CITIES...its growth towards hyper-density, its natural systems & mutation of architectures as projection of intelligent forms. Using design as a tool, he conducts critical analysis of demands and designs collectively to form an array of NEW spatial typologies & hybrid conditions. These are spatiality’s that extend the environments and landscapes we work, live and thrive in.

Public Building

Brent Civic Centre, Wembley
Brent is an incredibly rich and diverse Borough, with a multicultural population that challenges the traditional preconceptions of how best a town hall should serve its public. The new Civic Centre, located at the heart of the new masterplan for the Wembley Regeneration Area, is envisaged to reflect this society and be able to adapt and change to meet the current and future demand of the people, economy and the environment. TP Bennett’s scheme absorbs this context and transforms the Town Hall into a new transparent environment which is truly a building for the public
