Muhammad Kamal Alwi
APAM, B. Arch (Chicago)


Kamal graduated with high honours from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago to gain his bachelor of architecture. Formerly worked at Arkitek MAA Sdn Bhd and Arkitek MTAriffin, he is now practicing under the new discourse of Arkitek Kamal Alwi and in collaboration with Citylabstudio.


In his early years at Arkitek MAA, he was involved with various landmark projects such as the KL International Airport, The Curve@Mutiara Damansara, Tapah Prison Complex and Universiti Malaysia Sabah. Later in his career, he joined a smaller practice, Arkitek MTAriffin to gain a thorough exposure to the various aspects of the architecture practice. Kamal is keen to explore emerging technologies such as parametric design tools and industrialized building systems in his quest to seek new frontiers in Architecture.


Through his years of involvement in project management, Kamal had also gained vast experience in contract administration particularly in the Malaysian construction scene. He is currently collaborating with a group of legal practitioner and academician to write a book on principals of contract law for the building industry.
